Food ideas for your winter wedding
Winter is usually when we crave comfort foods more than ever. While our meals are often lighter in the warmer weather, the cold often makes our mouths water when we think about our favourite sweet or carbohydrate-rich foods. If you are planning a winter wedding, you want to keep your guests happy and here are some delicious foods to help you do just that.
Depending on the structure of your wedding and how you plan each part of the big day, you might want to serve your guests delicious and elegant snacks as soon as they arrive at the reception. So, while they enjoy a drink, they can nibble on something delicious while waiting for the bride and groom to arrive. Baked brie and cheese tarts are wonderful and can be served with fruit jams and nuts.
For a delicious starter, you could serve some tasty tomato soup. Some people like to eat tomato soup with toasted cheese sandwiches. A great alternative, however, is to serve some grated cheese on the side and some toast or croutons too.
Your main course should include a succulent cut of meat, perhaps a selection of roasted vegetables and some delicious potatoes too. There are several ways to serve potatoes as a side item. Think about the other foods on the plate, the way they are prepared, and your caterer should be able to offer advice regarding the best potatoes to pair with your food. Remember, there should also be a vegetarian alternative if any of your guests are vegetarian.
For dessert, you should offer a warm option as well as a cold or room temperature dessert. Cakes are great for the room temperature option while puddings like a sticky toffee pudding or cobbler are delicious hot options. If your hot pudding can be served with vanilla ice cream, make sure that you have some extra ice cream just in case any of your guests prefer a cold dessert.
